Wadham Lodge coach Neil Day has called for realism after a goalless draw with London Bari in the Essex Senior League on Saturday, following on from Wednesday's 2-1 reverse at Sporting Bengal.

Lodge were looking to bounce back following a poor performance at Mile End Stadium but found a resilient Bari outfit a hard nut to crack.

And it was Bari who looked the most threatening on the counter-attack in a game bossed by the two defences.

Despite the week's results Wadham coach Day urged supporters to be realistic in their expectations for the team this season.

He said: "It would have been great to have got two wins to keep up the pressure on the teams at the top, but in reality we played two established ESL sides who combated us with well thought out and well executed game plans.

"Nearly every side we've played has been well organised defensively and we've had to show quality and endeavour to gain results, our quality in the final third wasn't there on Saturday, hence the result.

"Ironically we worked on our defensive shape in training so our clean sheet was at least a bit of a silver lining on the day."

The joy of Waltham Forest's second league win of the season was short-lived as they went down 2-1 late at Hullbridge Sports.

Didier Grah put the Stags ahead before 89th and 91st minute goals won it for the hosts.
