Orient head coach Ian Hendon has confirmed the club made a serious offer for midfielder Kevin Nolan which was turned down towards the end of last year.

The former West Ham United midfielder spent three months training with Hendon’s side in an effort to keep fit while waiting to sign for a new club.

But the League Two club made an offer for Nolan and held discussions which ultimately failed to persuade the 33-year-old to sign.

The O’s boss said: “Towards the end of the year he was made an offer to sign.

"We made him a very good offer and there were serious conversations about signing him but we just couldn’t agree terms with him.”
