The Guardian Series understands Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon has taken charge of his last game and will be dismissed following today's defeat to Exeter City.

It is believed Hendon was called into a meeting after the O's 3-1 loss and informed his time in charge is coming to an end.

The League Two club have yet to confirm this but an announcement on Hendon's exit is expected to be released this week.

The Orient head coach has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks with fans calling for his dismissal following recent matches against Yeovil Town and Stevenage.

The O's capitulated after taking a 1-0 lead against Exeter conceding three first-half goals and this has proved the final straw for owner Francesco Becchetti.

Hendon has called for signings in recent weeks but the lack of arrivals in the last fortnight was telling as Becchetti appeared to lose his trust in him.

This week's appointment of technical director Andrea Pressenda also alienated Hendon and only increased tensions at the club.

Hendon was appointed head coach last summer and started the season with five consecutive wins. But the side only picked up 22 points in the last 21 games as they slipped down to 11th in the table.

It is unclear whether a new manager will be in place for the Wycombe game next Saturday but first-team coach Kevin Nugent or assistant manager Andy Hessenthaler could step in for the rest of the season.
