Waltham Forest slipped back into the Essex Senior League bottom two with a 4-2 defeat at Stansted on Saturday.

Jack Hayes gave Stansted lift-off when he bundled home from close range after the hosts had seen an initial effort strike the bar and bounce down on the line.

The Stags equalised after 14 minutes with a stunning individual goal from Solomon Ofori. He darted down the right, cut inside and dumped the full-back on the ground before lashing across goal and into far corner of the net to level.

Ten minutes before half-time the home side re-took the lead.

A corner from the left wasn't dealt with and centre-back Stuart Hoskins was on hand to lash home from close-range.

Stansted extended their advantage shortly after the hour mark when Tom Lakin followed in after a good save from keeper Will Hunt to deny Matt Ashwell initially.

Three minutes later Forest hauled themselves back into the contest. A long ball into the penalty area was brought down by Alan Callaghan for Jose Agua who lashed home at the near post.

But having assisted that goal Callaghan's afternoon ended on a sour note as he conceded the penalty from which Stansted killed off the tie.

With five minutes remaining Jack Isherwood stroked home the penalty after Callaghan was deemed to have held his man in the penalty area. In truth it looked to be the other way around.
