A last-minute goal wasn't enough to de-rail Waltham Abbey as Christian Assombalonga's double put the Abbotts three points clear of the relegation zone on Tuesday evening.
A 2-1 win over Dereham Town in Isthmian Division One North means Abbey now have a three-point gap between themselves and Wroxham, though the Yachtsmen have played two games fewer.
Goals in each half from Assombalonga sealed the win for Abbey before Ryan Crisp reduced the arrears in the 90th minute – seconds after the hosts had doubled up.
