Jobi McAnuff believes Orient can prove a match for anyone and insists all the pressure is on League Two leaders Northampton Town this Saturday.

The O’s climbed back into the top seven with a 1-0 win at rivals Portsmouth on Saturday but face a huge test against the Cobblers at the Matchroom Stadium.

Northampton are currently five points clear at the top, after winning their last six league games, but McAnuff believes playing against them may suit the O’s.

Speaking after the Pompey win, the experienced winger said: “It’s a massive game and I think to be honest they’re games that suit us.

"There’s a lot of pressure on them and it's obviously an important game but one that we can really go in and get stuck into, especially off the back of today.

“We’ve shown against a very good team that we can be a match for anyone as long as we’re all performing and doing our jobs. We look forward to it and know we need to be at our best and looking forward to getting a good result.”

McAnuff continued: "As I say, the pressure’s probably more on them [Northampton] being top and for us at home it’s not a bad thing but we need to get back to winning games there. If we can do that and put in performances together like we have done then we will be a threat.”

McAnuff scored a spectacular winner for the O’s at Fratton Park on Saturday but the midfielder believes his goal against Yeovil Town in December was slightly better.

“It was a good one but I think my strike at home was probably a better one pure wise.”

The former Reading midfielder is in the unusual position of being older than player-manager Kevin Nolan.

The 34-year-old is already starting to look ahead to a career after football but is still concentrating on getting the most out of his playing days.

McAnuff said: “Obviously you have to start thinking about it just because I’m 34 now and not going to play forever. But I’m enjoying my football and feel good and fit.

“Obviously I want to play as long as I can first and foremost and just keep going. You always think about things after football but at the minute I’m just focused on playing well and enjoying it. I’m really enjoying my football at the moment.”
