Interim Orient boss Andy Hessenthaler believes the club should be in the top three of League Two and accepts they will need to win their last three matches to have any hope of reaching the play-offs.

Tuesday's Plymouth defeat has left Orient five points behind AFC Wimbledon – who they visit tomorrow – in the race for the final play-off spot and with the East Londoners having just three games left, reaching the play-offs looks a very tall order now.

Hessenthaler said: “We are disappointed we’re in a position where we need to win our last three games to have any hope of getting into the play-offs. We should have been top-three.”

Tuesday’s defeat has led some supporters to already start thinking about next season but Hessenthaler says there are no thoughts on that from within.

Hessenthaler said regarding next season: “There is no planning at the moment, we can’t look beyond the next three games.

“We’ve got to deal with the next three games and I’m sure there will be a conversation with the owner at the end about who he is thinking about bringing in as the new manager.”

Asked if he fancies being there in a managerial or head coach position next season, he said: “We’ll see, we’ll see what happens. I’m just concentrating on the next three and we’ll see what the owner comes up with.”
