West Ham’s Enner Valencia was on the scoresheet for Ecuador last night, who came from 2-0 down to secure a draw with Peru in the Copa America.
Peru found themselves 2-0 ahead inside the first 13 minutes in Phoenix, thanks to goals from Christian Cueva and Edison Flores.
The West Ham striker got Ecuador back into the game six minutes before half time with a superb strike, controlling Antonio Valencia’s looped ball behind the defence on his chest, before powerfully volleying the ball past Peru’s Pedro Gallese.
Ecuador’s comeback was complete three minutes after half-time, as Swansea’s Jefferson Montero set-up Miller Bolanos to fire home from close-range, following a good team move.
The result leaves group B of the Copa America wide open, with Peru and Brazil joint top with four points and Ecuador a further two behind in third.
