EAST London Runners produced another fine performance at the third ELVIS race where both the men and women’s team held on to their lead.

The event, held for the first time by East End Road Runners at the Olympic Park, saw some of the club’s competitors achieve new personal bests.

Patrick Brown, 16.56, Mark Boulton, 17.00, and Alex Day, 17.12, came second, third and fourth in the men’s race with the team finishing second overall and cutting their lead at the top of the table to one point over Ilford. 

In the women’s race Ava Lee flew home first in a time of 19.53 with Judith Vonberg taking second place in a personal best time of 20.23 achieving a new personal best in turn.

Other scorers for the women were Ellie Wilkinson, 21.44, who created a new personal best and Alexandra Wilkinson, who came home in 22.32.

Elsewhere, at The Colworth Marathon Challenge, where competitors run in three races of 5 miles, 8.1 and 13.1 miles, Thomas Grimes came first, second and third in each race to win the event. He completed the marathon in a time of 2.43.05 with Brown and Day finishing fourth and eighth in times of 2.48.15 and 2.57.05 out of 157 finishers.

Jenny Ansell and Maud Hodson competed at the Giant’s Head Marathon in Dorest where Ansel finished 12th overall and was the second female home in a time of 2.21.31.

Daniel Slipper, Boulton, Antonio Romero and Ian Mackie competed in Orion Harriers’ Fast Friday.

Boulton won was on top of the podium in the open 5,000 as he won the race in a time of 16.56.
