Waltham Abbey racer Ben Green had an unfortunate weekend when he made contact with another driver as he competed in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup at Snetterton.
The event, which took place on Saturday and Sunday at the Norfolk circuit, saw Green suffer from car set-up issues from the outset.
During qualifying, however, he managed to push through the problems with his car as he qualified in eighth position for the first race on Saturday afternoon.
But his race was to prove shortlived as Green and Rob Gaffney collided on the first lap which led to cosmetic damage and a pit stop.
The 18-year-old had nowhere to go, other than straight into the back of his rival, as he was accelerating when Gaffney’s car had to stop on the circuit due to losing all electrical and engine power.
Due to the incident, Green started at the back of the grid in Sunday’s race, but a snapped bolt on the wishbone resulted in more misfortune with him not being able to finish for a second time, while the third race of the weekend was cancelled due to time constraints.
After a frustrating weekend, Green and his team, Super Green Racing, will hope for better fortunes at the next event at Fife’s Knockhill circuit over the weekend of August 13 and 14.
