After six years at E10 Dean Cox has left Leyton Orient by mutual consent.

The club released a statement confirming his departure and the news comes one day after the transfer deadline meaning he will be unable to join another Football League club until January.

Cox was linked with a move to League One side Northampton Town but it was understood the deal fell through at the last minute.

Looking back at his time with the club, the 29-year-old joined in 2010 from Brighton and joined former Seaguls boss Russell Slade.

He quickly became a fan favourite as he continued to gain double figures each season.

In the 2013/14 season, he scored 17 goals to help the O's reach the League-one play off final and was notably upset when they lost out on penalities to Rotherham after he scored at the iconic Wembley stadium.

Francesco Becchetti took over the club the year after the play-off and Cox remained after they were relegated into League Two.

During the 2015/16 campaign, Cox suffered a knee injury in November after he gained five goals in 16 appearances.

He has scored 59 goals in 275 appearances in total at E10, five of those appearances coming this season.

The club statement read: "We'd like to thank Dean for his service to the club and wish him all the best in the future."

The O's faithful will have fond memories of the winger for years to come.
