ANDY Hessenthaler revealed Jay Simpson and Nigel Atangana should be fully fit for the visit of Yeovil Town on Saturday after they took part in training this week.

Simpson has not featured since the 3-0 victory over Stevenage in the league in August but trained with the squad on Monday and Atangana last played in the Checkatrade Trophy.

The former Arsenal striker scored 25 goals last season and many including the O’s boss are looking forward to his return.

Hessenthaler said: “If he has a good week, along with Nigel, who is missing as well with a slight groin problem, I’m convinced both of those will be in contention for Saturday.”

The 51-year-old also praised the work rate of Harry Cornick and Gavin Massey after their 2-2 draw at Carlisle United.

Paul McCallum opened the scoring at Brunton Park in the 44th minute, but Charlie Wyke equalised for the hosts 25 seconds into the second half.

A piece of individual brilliance from Cornick from the middle of the park put the O’s in front again with 26 minutes remaining.

But the Blues were awarded a penalty when Liam Kelly handled Reggie Lambe’s cross and Danny Grainger made no mistake from the spot with three minutes to go to secure a point for the hosts.

“I’ve seen Harry in training and he is capable of doing that and gets into some really good areas,” Hessenthaler said.

“Sometimes that final pass lets him down and again on Saturday, he got round the back of the full-back. I think he could have slid it along the floor and instead he’s hit it high and we’ve headed it wide.

“He knows the stuff he needs to work on, but that is a great bit of individual brilliance to be fair to the kid and he is a handful so I’m really pleased for him plus he puts a shift in defensively as well.

“Both him and Gavin (Massey), they have been excellent and not just on the ball, but without it and they work so hard to get it back.

“We have a good dressing room in there and you can tell they’re really together and pulling each other along.”

After battling on the touchline in the past and notably last season at Brisbane Road, Hessenthaler and Carlisle boss Keith Curle did not come to blows on Saturday afternoon at Brunton Park with their feud not escalating further.

“Me and Keith have known each other a long time and had battles on the pitch and off last year,” said Hessenthaler.

“He is too big anyway. I tried my luck last season and will never do it again given the size of him! Listen, we’re both passionate guys.

“He called me a Rottweiler in his programme notes and he’s probably about right. I want to win and he wants to win, but he’s a good guy.
