Waltham Forest succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at Barking in the Essex Senior League on Tuesday night.

A Joe Pearman penalty and a Ben O’Brien goal put the home side up 2-0 before the break and was enough to take all three points.

Lee Flynn’s unleashed thunderous half-volley into the bottom corner from 30 yards turned out to be a consolation.

That defeat came after Forest had gained a dominant 3-0 win over West Essex on Saturday.

The deadlock was broken in the 32nd minute as Flynn curled an exquisite free-kick into the top corner, leaving Sam Haywood in no man’s land.

Brian Moses atoned for not converting a one-on-one chance when he robbed a West Essex defender, controlled the ball and tapped it past Sam Haywood before the break.

The second half continued in a similar fashion as Forest created plenty of chances, and Timur Koymen made it three when he shot hard and low following Jordan McKenzie’s deflected cross.

Wadham Lodge gained some confidence as they drew 1-1 against Southend Manor on Tuesday after their 3-2 defeat at the hands of Sawbridgeworth Town.

Andrea Mantovani scored the only goal for Lodge which should have won them all three points, only for Manor to find a late equaliser.

On Saturday, the Kitchener Road team had a healthy 2-0 lead at half-time thanks to Henri Okosi and Vladut Gabriel Sighiartau.

But Gavin Cockman, Matt Frew and Brad Harris hit back after the break, taking the spoils with the last kick of the game.

Wadham Boss Neil Day said: “On the plus side it was always the intention to get this newly built squad competitive first and foremost and I think few could argue that we haven’t reached that stage.”
