Highly-rated teenager Domingos Quina has signed his first professional contract to keep him at West Ham United until 2019.

The 17-year-old has attracted interest from across Europe after a string of fine performances for the Hammers’ under-23 side, including a 40-yard wonder strike against Leicester City.

Having committed his long-term future to the London Stadium side, Quina now wants to push on and make the most of the opportunity he has been given.

“I know that talent alone is not enough to see me develop as a player and I just want to keep working hard every day. Hopefully I will get my chance,” he told the club website.

“I am very happy to have signed my first professional contract with West Ham and it has always been my dream.

“I chose West Ham because it is a great club and they like to give young players opportunities to break into the first team like Reece Oxford and I hope to do the same.”

Quina’s talent has seen him represent Portugal at youth level where he helped his nation to the under-17 European Championship crown.

The forward featured in all six of Portugal’s matches at the tournament in Azerbaijan and started the final against Spain.

He made his competitive debut for the Hammers in the Europa League clash with NK Domzale and Slaven Bilic believes he has a bright future at the club.

He said: “I am personally delighted with the news. We know a lot about him and he came with us on our pre-season.

“He is one of those players that you think if he doesn’t make it, then which player will?

“He has got everything and it is now down to us and up to him how much he is going to improve and dedicate his life to achieve something God gave him. There is no doubt he has something exceptional.”
