Wapping Hockey Club men's Seconds won 2-0 over Long Sutton to go top in East Division One at the weekend.

Wapping started the first half well and Oliver Salvesen put early pressure on the visitors goal only to narrowly miss it after a 1-on-1 with the keeper.

Long Sutton suffered an early set-back when their right-back had to be substituted after pulling his hamstring.

The first goal for the hosts came shortly afterwards at the hands of Dom Oliver who converted a short corner with a drag flick.

Wapping's keeper Chris Monger was able to keep the home side ahead when Sutton created some chances after creating holes in his defence.

Toward's the end of the first half, Wapping doubled their lead when Ian Kibble picked up the ball at Sutton's 23-metre line.

Drawing out a couple of Long players, he played the ball to Michael Bolle into the circle.

The latter played it back to the former who slotted the ball into the goal to make 2-0 to the home side.

In the second half both sides were evenly matched but frustration led to a yellow card for Sutton's central midfielder following a tackling foul against Kibble.

Wapping managed to keep the score at 2-0 and go straight to the summit after previous leaders Shefford & Sandy saw their game postponed.

Chelmsford rallied and a few moments of style put pressure on but Loughts held strong and displayed their defensive quality.

The home side soon added their third after a run down the left side from Harry Kempe who found Kevin Ross in the area who pushed the ball into the bottom corner.

Will Hopkins scored the fourth after he deflected ball into the net from an Ian Swallow shot from a short corner.
