Andy Carroll believes West Ham United are close to rediscovering their form despite the club being on a three game losing run.

The Hammers have failed to match the displays which took them to a seventh place finish and Europa League qualification last season.

An upturn in form before Christmas helped the club climb away from the relegation zone and Carroll says confidence is returning to United’s squad after a testing opening to the season.

“The start of the season was difficult, compared to last season, but we started scoring goals before Christmas,” the striker told the club website.

“Last season was a great season and even though this season didn’t start well, I think we’re starting to find it now and come around, although the last few results haven’t gone our way.

“I think the lads have always been happy, obviously when you are losing games it dips anyway but I think [after our last dip] we were able to get it back up with a few wins.”

Carroll’s season has followed a familiar personal narrative as injuries have led to him missing a large chunk of the campaign.

A knee injury saw him sidelined for over three months from the start of the season and he has only just begun to rediscover full fitness.

The 28-year-old has found the net twice in the five games since his return and says he is looking to move on from his latest injury concerns.

“Personally, I don’t think about injuries to be honest,” Carroll explained. “I just forget about the past, as soon it’s over I just get on with it.

“It just happens that way, all I want is to get back on the pitch and give it 100 per cent.

“It has been good to be back. I feel good on the pitch, I’m training well and it’s nice to be back getting the goals.”
