Wapping men’s Seconds were crowned kings of east London after beating their rivals East London Firsts 2-1.

East London drew first blood when they snuck an early goal past Wapping debutant James Bowler.

The trademark slow start from Wapping didn’t last long, however, as the visitors recovered and equalised via a Alain Traill penalty corner.

The score remained 1-1 until the interval despite chances falling for both sides.

Wapping continued to dominate possession after the break but their opponents’ defence held out stubbornly.

But Wapping did not give in and scored their second goal when Ollie Davies converted via a defender’s stick to put the East Division One leaders in the driving seat.

East London should have equalised with ten minutes to go but their forward was tackled by Tom Sibley before a shot could be taken.

This win puts the Seconds three points clear of fellow promotion contenders Shefford & Sandy, whose game was postponed.

There was also a good result for the men’s Thirds who defeated Colchester Firsts 2-1 with Ross Townsley and George Smeaton the scorers.

With both the Fourths and the Fifths matches called off, the Sixths recorded another win for the club when goals from Chris Young and Dave Charlesworth saw off Old Southendian Seconds in a 2-1 scoreline.

And it was a good result for the men’s XI as they emerged as the 4-1 victors over Waltham Forest Otters at the weekend.

Wapping ladies Seconds lost 3-2 in a closely-contested match against Chelmsford Seconds.

Alice Gage and Rachel Haseloff’s goals were not enough to seal the win for the ladies.

And in the only other ladies game played, there was also bad news for the Fifths.

They lost 3-1 to Old Loughtonians Thirds with Ella van den Brink the only scorer for Wapping.

Old Loughts men’s Firsts enjoyed a good weekend after recording a 3-0 win over Cambridge University.

Will Hopkins opened the scoring when he pounced on a loose ball in the D and found the back of the net to put his side 1-0 up.

The second half saw a better all-round display from both sides but it was Old Loughtonians who came out on top.

Kevin Ross should have added a second goal for his side but his shot went agonisingly wide of the post.

Loughts, however, kept creating opportunities and two short corners were converted by Shane Martin and Mitchell Jones to seal the victory.

It was a mixed bag of results for Waltham Forest with their men’s Firsts defeating Cambridge University 2-1.

However, it was a terrible day for the club’s Seconds as they fell to a 13-2 thrashing at the hands of Broxbourne.

The men’s Thirds delivered a 5-2 victory over Witham Thirds but the same could not be said for the Fifths, who lost 3-1 to Witham Fifths.

Crostyx men’s Seconds hosted Witham’s Seconds as the season resumed after the festive break and won 4-1.

The visitors started the better of the two teams and looked to threaten, only to see their attacks thwarted by Guy Peddy and Alfie Tedder.

But Crostyx soon got into their stride and Joe Whitehead opened the scoring when he finished with an unstoppable reserve stick shot.

Whitehead added his second by scoring an unstoppable shot past the diving keeper before Ja Akbar sealed their 3-0 lead going into the second period.

However, Witham did not give in and came out for the second half with real purpose.

Goalkeeper Barney Tedder had to make some vital saves to ensure the visitors did not find a way back into the match.

Witham finally got their reward when they pulled one back shortly after Whitehead added his third to confirm the victory.
