Eton Manor fell to their second defeat in a row on Saturday as they were comprehensively beaten 42-14 by Old Priorians.

The defeat came as a surprise and puts a dent in Manor’s promotion hopes as they fell to fifth in the London One North table.

With Priorians sitting 10th at the start of play, Manor would have been looking to take maximum points and resurrect their ailing form which has seen them lose three of their last five fixtures.

However, the hosts were in dominant mood and eased to a comprehensive win.

Manor will look to return to winning ways against Letchworth Garden City on Saturday.

It was a far closer run thing for Chingford as they fell to a 10-8 defeat against North Walsham With both sides battling it out for a top-four spot.

It was always likely to be an evenly-contested match and Walsham required a 78th-minute penalty to snatch victory.

Chingford were in the ascendency throughout the first half and a Scott Meakin penalty was added to by Joshua Noah’s try to give them an 8-0 lead at the break.

A yellow card just before half-time gave Walsham a foothold in the game and they made their extra man count with a converted try a minute into the second half.

With time almost up, a penalty on the ten metre line gave Matt Hodgson a chance to steal all the points and he calmly converted to break Chingford hearts.

Epping Upper Clapton continued the losing theme in a 27-15 defeat to Norwich.

They set the pace from the early stages and were ahead through a converted try inside the opening minutes.

Epping reacted well to the setback and gained the upper hand after Harry Barnes’ penalty and Mitch Sinfield’s try.

A second converted try from Norwich saw the momentum swing back in the visitors’ favour before Laurie Dobin went over for Epping.

This time Baker added the extras from the conversion, but that was the end of the Epping scoring.

Norwich controlled the closing stages and were clinical in their finishing as they ran in two more tries to ease to victory.

London Three North East side Wanstead provided a ray of light as they cruised to a commanding 36-6 win over Ely.

The result leaves Wanstead sixth in the table after 20 matches.

They enjoy a sizeable 11 point gap on Stowmarket, who sit a place below them in the league.

Fifth place Southwold are six points ahead of them and Wanstead will look to bridge that gap when they take on Romford & Gidea Park on Saturday.
