With the season finally over everyone connected with the club continue to be left with more questions than answers, says fans view writer Laurie Hann.

One of the big questions is who is going to be running the club next season? There have been whispers of a possible takeover for a while now. Sky have been reporting that talks are in progress but once again the details are very limited. Rumours have been flying around on social media too and it is difficult to separate the fact from fiction. With the obvious lack of information being supplied from the club’s directors, patience is going to be needed from all those connected to the club whilst the rumoured takeover develops.

The other big question is whether we will be looking for a 12th manager in three years under Becchetti. Omer Riza has done a fantastic job recently getting the squad organised and is clearly being kept in the dark as to what will happen next season, airing these frustrations on social media. He’s one amongst many whose contract expires this summer.

With a lot of the youth players in the first team squad now, I would love for Riza to remain at the club as he knows these young players so well. Stability needs to be the key for next season and if we begin it with another manager and a new side, it is difficult to see how stability can be achieved.

A lot has been said about the pitch invasion that occurred during the Colchester game. I feel something did need to be done to get some sort of reaction from the authorities as action from both the EFL and FA to date has been effectively non-existent. Until the statement after the game, almost no communication had been made by the EFL. Something needs to be done by the EFL regarding their controversial 'owners and directors test' as they keep spinning the line that they can’t interfere until these rules have been broken.

Ultimately these rules need to be changed as it is not just Orient who are suffering at the hands of their owners. Both Coventry and Blackburn got relegated this season and when you look at the way those clubs are being run it is no surprise that both teams suffered the same fate as Orient.

Beyond this though, protests continue to be made by fans at clubs such as Blackpool and Charlton, further examples of clubs with unfit owners.

The EFL continues to say that they are simply a competition organiser but they must be held to account that clubs under their jurisdiction continue to be run into the ground by owners who are clearly not capable of running a football club properly.

The current rules are making a mockery of the EFL and until these rules are changed to make owners and directors more accountable, they will continue to do so. Time and time again, clubs have been taken over by individuals who have been able to pass the test in its current format and once they do, they are free to do whatever they please whilst the EFL just absolves itself of any responsibility.

Punishments need to be in place that go against the owners, whether it be a financial penalty or otherwise, for those who break a more effective set of rules. At the moment the only people who get punished by erratic owners are the fans of these clubs who are powerless as they watch the club they love crumble away before them.
