League Two Stevenage proved no match for a Leyton Orient XI as the O’s eased to a 3-1 victory.

Goals from Dan Happe, Sam Dalby and Romauld Boco were enough to give Orient the victory despite Boro registering through a trialist.

Orient took the chance to give a number of players on the periphery of their squad some much-needed game time and also fielded two trialists of their own.

While their hosts started the brighter, Orient soon grew to their task and made the most of decent spell of pressure to go ahead with 19 minutes to play.

The goal came from a set piece as Boco’s corner found Happe and the defender converted to put the O’s ahead.

Boro were soon looking for a route back into the game and Andronicus Georgiou, Stevenage’s best player in the first half, created a decent chance soon after the O’s goal.

He raced beyond the exposed Orient defence and lifted a delicate finish over Sam Sergeant only to see his effort drop wide of the post.

Orient were by no means holding on to their lead and could have gone two clear before the interval as they created a couple of decent chances.

Josh Koroma went close with a prodded effort after controlling well in the area and Boco forced a smart low save with a driven strike.

Both Orient and Boro went within inches of scoring soon after the half-time interval as they struck the woodwork, with a trialist going close for Orient.

Boro drew level with 55 minutes played when Ben Wilmot’s cross was headed in by the Stevenage trialist.

From that point on the game became cagey and Koroma’s superbly worked effort, which drifted wide, was the closest either came heading into the final 15 minutes.

Two minutes later Orient had their lead back when Dalby showed an excellent turn of pace to latch onto a long ball and finish with the outside of his foot.

The result was put beyond doubt soon after, when Sam Alderson’s cross was spilled by the Boro keeper and Boco turned in the scraps.
