Leyton Orient twice fought back to secure a battling 2-2 National League draw on the road against Wrexham.

The O’s started the game in the worst possible manner and were behind with only a minute on the clock when Chris Holroyd headed into an empty net from a deflected cross.

Wrexham’s opener arrived with just 44 seconds on the clock but Orient were, by and large, the better of the two sides.

There was, however, more than a stroke of luck about Orient’s equaliser as Macauley Bonne’s deflected cross beat Chris Dunn.

Orient then had their chances to go ahead but looked set to suffer a defeat with just under 20 minutes left to play when Holroyd bagged his brace.

Mark Ellis would have the final say on proceedings with five minutes to play as he headed in his first goal for the club.

The result leaves Orient 19th in the table ahead if a trip to Gillingham in a week’s time.
