Waltham Forest Amateur Boxing Club (ABC) held a real Christmas cracker of a show at it's gym on Sunday securing two wins from it's three fighters on the card.

First out for 'the Men in Green' on the 12 bout card at the E4 Fitness Club in Highams Park was 14-year-old Carlton Forchin against Sting ABC's Aaron James.

The visiting fighter with a slight height and reach advantage came out the more aggressive in the opening session, however using good movement Forchin was able to dodge any real blows while counter attacking well with some good right hooks to the head.

The second session continued in a similar vain and while in the third round James raced out to land some good early shots, the Forest puncher once again weaved his way out of trouble and in the end landed the more telling shots.

So it came as no surprise when the judges handed him a unanimous points win, which would also help him secure the Best home boxer award as well.

Next out from the home stable was Musa Sharif, who was pitted against Eltham's Pat Cash. The pair served up an entertaining contest and while Shairf looked to push his opponent back, he kept getting caught with the more telling blows to secure a majority points victory for Cash.

The final Forest fighter to step through the ropes was Zeryab Ali, who was up against Aaron McMahon from Lewsey ABC.

Both boxers looked fairly evenly matched in this contest, although Ali with some good combinations just about edged the opening session.

Some good left and right hooks continued to see the home fighter just about shade the second. A pumped up McMahon stared the final round strongly, but a good clean head shot from Ali, probably swung the decision his way with a majority win being recorded by the judges.

Delighted club secretary Ian Cuddy said: "I'd like to thank everyone for another great year at the club, especially my coaches who give up so much valuable time to train the lads.

"It's always a privilege to host a show at your own club and and I thank Martin Long for supplying us with such a fantastic venue.

"All of our boys boxed really well today and were a credit to the club, and hopefully they can all shine again in 2018."

Other winners on a card that also featured an opening skills contest between Emerson Sinclair (Cheshunt) and Mohammed Yaha Wahid (Newham), were: Jack Venton (Horseshoe), Amaan Mohammad (Gator), Taran Rai Singh (Gator), Degole Bremmer (Peacock), Zacks Chingozha (Hockwell Ring), Jayvir Sangar (Gator) *(Also best away fighter), Tariq Johnson (Strood), Shubitam Rawat (Twickenham & Brunswick).
