Leyton Orient will take on League One side Southend United in their only pre-season friendly at Brisbane Road in July.

The Shrimpers, managed by former Charlton Athletic boss Chris Powell, finished in 10th place in League One this season, and will travel to the O’s on Tuesday, July 24.

The match forms a part of Orient’s growing pre-season schedule, with the club announcing last week that they will travel to a training camp in Portugal in July.

Orient will travel to Albufeira in the Algarve region from Sunday, July 8 for a week, where the squad will take part in a series of warm weather training sessions, before then taking on a Championship side in a pre-season friendly on Friday, July 13 at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira.

Prior to heading out to Portugal, the O’s will kick off their pre-season fixture list with a trip to Harlow Town on Saturday, July 7, with kick off at 3pm.

Orient defender Christian Scales, who was transfer listed by the O’s two weeks ago, spent time on loan with Harlow this season, who secured a 21st place finish in the Bostik Premier League under manager Gary Chapman.

Upon returning from their warm weather training camp, the O’s will then head to Marvin Ekpiteta's former team East Thurrock United on Tuesday, July 21, before then travelling to ex-midfielder Sammy Moore’s Concord Rangers for a friendly on Saturday, July 21.

Moore, who made 36 appearances for Orient in a two-year spell at Brisbane Road, was appointed as the National League South side’s new manager earlier this month having enjoyed an impressive spell in charge of Leatherhead, guiding the Tanners to a sixth place finish in the Bostik Premier League this campaign.

After facing Southend, the O's will cap off their pre-season preperations with a trip to Ian Allinson's St Albans City, who finished just outside the play-offs in the National League South this season. That match will take place on Saturday, July 28 with kick off at 3pm.
