Willingale Cricket Club’s season is back on track, as they picked up back-to-back wins over Cloghams and Braughing to bring the team’s winless run of three games to an end.

The Herts & Essex League Division Three side returned to winning ways last week with a narrow 21 run win over Cloghams thanks to an unrivalled score of 86 not out from Adrian Robinson.

Robinson’s score was supplemented by captain Steve Stammers, who notched 29 as Willingale posted a score of 170-6 inside 40 overs.

Early dismissals for Dave Bardell and Robert Crouchman proved to be a sign of things to come for Cloghams, as they were restricted to 149-9, with Willingale’s Robinson again proving to be influential as he took 3-28.

Willingale then made it back-to-back wins when they secured a commanding 39 run win over struggling Braughing on Saturday.

The Herts & Essex League side were in the driving seat early on as Dave Mundell’s score of 69 was built upon by Stammers, who notched 42 to help propel Willingale to a healthy 216-8.

Their commanding position was only strengthened when George Eustace was dismissed for two to leave Braughing on the brink at 63-7.

However, a late flourish saw Braughing scramble to 177 all out, with Mundell (2/38), Mark Hawkes (3/44), and Imran Ahmed (2/38) being the pick of the bowlers for Willingale.

Those results moved Willingale up to seventh place in the league and they will be looking to close the gap on fourth place when they take on Nazeing Common IIs this Saturday.
