Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy looks set to capitalise on Aston Villa’s precarious financial situation with a cut-price move for starlet Jack Grealish.
With a sizeable British contingent in the Spurs ranks, the highly rated 22-year-old could be the next to be added to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Grealish looks destined to leave Villa Park this summer as a combination of their failed attempt to earn promotion to the Premier League, and the manner in which the club have been left in dire financial straits.
While Villa value the midfielder at £30 million, Tottenham will attempt to take advantage of the cash-strapped Championship side and land their man for £15 million.
Spurs may have to play hardball, however, and face competition from a host of clubs. As Villa owner Tony Xia attempts to stump up the necessary funds in the interim, the club have insisted they will not part with their prized asset on the cheap.
That could initiate a bidding war, and it remains to be seen whether the Spurs board are prepared to match the quoted valuation for a player who is still relatively unproven in the top flight.
