SCOTT PARKER believes he is finally finding top form after an injury-hit start to his West Ham career.

Since arriving from Newcastle United in a £7million deal last summer, Parker has only recently managed a regular run of games in the side.

The midfielder's first four months at Upton Park were interrupted by knee problems while the 27-year-old spent another two months on the sidelines in the second half of the season.

However Parker has won his place in the heart of the Hammers' midfield and hasn't looked back since his return in March.

"I am pleased with how things have been going," he told the club's website.

"Obviously coming back from long-term injury, a long time out, it has been very disappointing, but I feel that I've turned a corner regarding my injury.

"I just need games now. The season's coming to an end now but I'm glad I'm getting through the games. I feel I'm getting stronger with every one."

Things are looking up on a personal note for Parker, but his team have come in for criticism from their own fans in recent weeks after some disappointing results, capped by a 4-1 hammering by table-toppers Manchester United last week.

But Parker was more focussed with what lies ahead, and he hopes the team can put in a strong performance in the side's final game of the season against Aston Villa on Sunday.

"We need to draw a line under this result (Man United) and carry on the way were going.

"We need to go into the Villa game and try and pick up three points. We need to get tenth and that's what we're going to do.

"We're going to go into that game fully focused and hopefully get all three points."
