SPURS recent signing Luka Modric has been tipped to take the Premiership by storm in a similar manner to Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas, writes Iain Liddle.

Portsmouth star Nico Kranjcar made the comments about his international team mate after Modric scored in the only goal in Croatia's 1-0 victory over Austria on Sunday.

"I really do think Luka has got everything," said Kranjcar in the Daily Star.

"I don't think he is too slight and small. Cesc Fabregas also looks very slight, but he runs the game for Arsenal and I really do think Luka is going to impress in The Premier League as well."

The playmaker became Tottenham's first signing of the summer when he joined for £16.5million from Dinano Zagreb in April and will join up with his new club after Euro 2008 for pre-season training.

"You need things to go your way and to have a bit of luck, but he has every single component to make it in The Premier League."

"His style will suit Tottenham. Spurs have a Spanish manager and, with the way they play and the players they have, I think the club will suit him perfectly - especially at home.

"I'm sure Tottenham know exactly what they've got and why they bought him. I really don't think he's going to have many problems.

Talking after the Austria game Modric, who speaks little English, told of his excitement at the challenge that awaits him in Britain.

He said: "I am very excited to get to London and it is great to know the Spurs fans are excited."
