PASCAL Chimbonda will not be at Spurs next season and is negotiating with a number of clubs with regards to his next destination, according to agent Willie McKay.

The full-back has fallen behind Scottish international Alan Hutton in the White Hart Lance pecking order and also faces increased competition from young Welsh defender Chris Gunter.

The purchase of both players in the January transfer window convinced the Frenchman, who was excluded from his country's squad for Euro 2008, that his future lies elsewhere.

Spurs have now indicated that he will be allowed to leave if they can recoup around half of the £4.5million fee paid to Wigan for his services in August 2006.

"I expect Pascal to leave Tottenham this summer," McKay told Sky Sports.

"I am speaking to several clubs with the consent of Tottenham and Pascal hopes to get his future sorted soon.

"I believe Tottenham will be looking in the region of £2million from interested clubs."

Chimbonda came under criticism from fans for his stroppy reaction to being replaced against Chelsea in the League Cup final in February when he had to be hurried up by team mate Jermaine Jenas before leaving the pitch.

But McKay disagrees.

"Pascal has done nothing wrong at Tottenham, he has been a good signing," said McKay.

"His reaction during the Carling Cup final was a result of the player being upset at being subbed for the first time in his career at Tottenham.

"Unless you have scored a hat-trick and are coming off to a standing ovation, you don't want to be substituted in a cup final."

The arrival of Hutton combined with various injuries to club captain Ledley King have meant that Chimbonda appeared in various positions during the second-half of the season.

But he is keen to return his favoured place on the right of defence.

McKay added: "Pascal always gave his best for the team whether he was asked to play at right-back, centre-back or left-back.

"Also, contrary to some suggestions, Pascal is one of the fittest players at Tottenham as he looks after himself.

"Pascal has shown he can do a good job in the Premier League and he is hoping to move to a top club and play in his preferred position of right-back."
