WEST HAM are ready to join the race to sign Liverpool misfit Jermaine Pennant, according to reports.
The winger is a candidate for the chop at Anfield as Reds boss Rafael Benitez looks to raise funds to land summer-long target Gareth Barry from Aston Villa.
Blackburn are favourites to land the 25-year-old, and are rumoured to be lining up a £7million bid.
But reports are now suggesting that the Irons are keen on the former Arsenal and Birmingham man.
However, the rumours would seem far-fetched given that boss Alan Curbishley already has Julien Faubert, Valon Behrami, Freddie Ljungberg and - when fit - Kieron Dyer all vying for the wide right position.
