SPURS TALK: Tottenham chairman will let Berbatov rot

TOTTENHAM chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to let wantaway striker Dimitar Berbatov 'rot in the reserves' if Manchester United fail to meet the club's £30million asking price for the Bulgarian, according to reports.

Berbatov was left out of Spurs' 2-1 home defeat to Sunderland and, according to the Daily Mail, Levy has told fellow board members that he is willing to let the 28-year-old train with the reserves for the entire season.

Levy is furious with Berbatov's attitude after the forward's admission that he wants to move to Old Trafford, although United are unwilling to match Tottenham's valuation.

Sir Alex Ferguson has made it no secret that the Bulgaria international is top of his wish list as he looks for someone to lead the line for his side.

But he is reluctant to buckle to Tottenham's demands and is running out of time to secure the striker before the September 1 deadline. If United fail to come up with the cash Levy could make Berbatov sit on the sidelines for the remainder of the season, but his continued sulking is affecting morale in the dressing room.
