PAUL Terry believes Spurs loanee Simon Dawkins has the potential to be a huge hit at Brisbane Road, writes Joseph Gleave.

The 20-year-old, who will be with the O's until January has impressed in his two appearances so far for Orient, although is yet to open his scoring account.

The striker had a chance to net his first goal on Saturday against Carlisle when he burst clear but placed his shot to close to keeper Ben Williams.

Terry, however believes Dawkins will soon be finding the back of the net and thinks the youngster will be a key player for the O's.

He said: "Dawks knows he had a good chance on Saturday and he's disappointed with himself, but if he keeps getting into those positions he'll score more than he misses.

“You can see in training how god his finishing is and I'm sure it wont be long before he starts scoring in games.

"He will certainly be a valuable asset to us if we do keep him all season then that bolsters us in attack even more because the lad is a real talent."

Terry was also pleased to see former Spurs and Hull defender Alton Thelwell return to the staring line-up on Saturday after a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

"Its good to see Alton back, because he a is great defender and valuable member of the team.

“Hopefully we can keep him fit now, because I'm sure we will keep plenty more cleansheets with him in the team.”
