TOTTENHAM striker Roman Pavlyuchenko insists he is not worried about adapting to the pace of the English game – he is only concerned about mastering the language.

The Russia international has not enjoyed the type of start he would have envisaged at White Hart Lane as his new side are languishing at the foot of the Premier League without a win from their first six games.

The £14million signing from Spartak Moscow scored his first goal in a Spurs shirt in the 2-1 Carling Cup win over Newcastle last week, showing signs that he is beginning to cope with the demands of the English game.

And the 26-year-old insists he can be a success story - unlike his Slavic predecessor Sergei Rebrov - with his only pressing concern being 'getting to grips' with the language so he can communicate effectively with his new team-mates.

Speaking to the November edition of 442, Pavlyuchenko said: “I don't really worry about adapting to the style, or about anything on the football side.

“Spurs have shown faith in me and I have faith in myself. Only time will tell if I do well, but I'm confident that I will.

“The only problem right now is the language. I just need time to master that.

“I have already found a teacher. I've already started lessons and am studying every day after training. To be honest, getting to grips with the language is the only problem I can see at the moment.”
