ARSENE Wenger called for video technology to be introduced into football after his side had a seemingly legitimate goal ruled out by a linesman in Saturday's draw with Sunderland.
Arsenal's Theo Walcott carried the ball to the by-line before wrapping his foot around the ball and squaring for Robin van Persie to slam home in the second-half, which would have given the Gunners the lead. But referee Lee Mason's assistant raised his flag and the goal was disallowed.
The Black Cats went on to take the lead late on before Cesc Fabregas' header rescued a point for Wenger's men. But the Frenchman insisted there would be no room for complaint if managers were allowed appeals during the game, with video replays being introduced to resolve contentious decisions.
“That's just another appeal for video,” Wenger said of the incident. “You cannot appeal on video but if a manager had two appeals per game then in this one I would have used it of course.”
