ORIENT: 'Drop fear will spur on team'

11:40am Thursday 11th March 2010

ORIENT players know what is at stake ahead of the visit of Walsall on Saturday, according to Jason Demetriou.

The O’s are locked in the fight to beat the drop out of League One, being without a win in seven games.

When the pair last clashed in December, Walsall came from two goals down to snatch a point at the Bescot Stadium.

“Walsall are next and we will be looking for the three points because we certainly don’t want to get sucked back in the relegation zone” said Demetriou.

He said he has sympathy for boss Geraint Williams who must mastermind Orient's escape into mid-table and away from the dreaded drop-zone.

“Sometimes, you wonder if you want to be a manager after your playing career, and at times like this you see what a hard job it is.

“We players are lucky that we just need to concentrate on our own game.”

The midfielder insisted there is strong team spirit among the players during the tough spell.
