ROMA have admitted they could return for West Ham midfielder Valon Behrami at a later date, after failing to land the Switzerland international during the summer transfer window.
Behrami recently revealed he was disappointed to still be at Upton Park, although his wish may yet be granted, according to Roma president Rosella Sensi.
“Behrami is an important player,” he told Centrosuonosport.
“We did want him but unfortunately the deal could not be sealed. We had to keep our balance.
“I don't know whether we will sign him or not, but never say never.”
Roma did make a last-ditch effort to land the player as the transfer deadline approached, but the Hammers rebuffed their advances.
Behrami insisted he would still give his all for West Ham, although he conceded he was disappointed the transfer did not go through.
“I am disappointed the deal failed to go through – that is for certain,” he told The Sun last week.
“Avram Grant gave me his permission to speak with Roma.
“But he also said he needs me, with West Ham bottom of the table. I'm sure I'll still get to play for them.”
