Leyton are at a low ebb but the only way now is up, insists boss Gordon Boateng.

He was speaking after the Lilywhites went down 1-0 in the derby to rivals Waltham Forest FC, last weekend.

The stinging result consigned Leyton to the bottom of Ryman One north, as the Stags leapfrogged above them in the table.

Boateng rued poor finishing by his Lea Bridge Road side.

“It was a typical derby game, we were on top and had plenty of chances, but we failed to take them,” he told Guardian Series sport.

“Credit to Waltham Forest, they took their chances. Sometimes you just do not get the rub of the green.

“We are at the lowest point, he said.

“But I know the boys coming in now and they know me.

“I’m a realist and know the task is big, but we have enough games to get to safety. I believe in the players.”

Next up for Leyton is Brentwood Town at home on Saturday.

“I know them very well through their manager. We were at Dagenham and Redbridge together. His side’s been a bit inconsistent of late but are looking for a playoff spot.

“We go into it looking forward to playing some games now.

“We need to get to used to playing together.

“Once we get the first goal then we will be away, I’m sure of it.”
