A BAN from Ryman League football is the punishment doled out to Leyton FC for overdue payments.

Officials “reluctantly” suspended the Lilywhites after no subscription instalment was paid by the club, last week.

In what is sure to be a blow to new boss Gordon Boateng, the Ryman one north outfit in Lea Bridge Road cannot now play until one week after the payment is made.

More discussions will take place when the board of league directors meet on January 27.

A Ryman spokesman said: "the League has reluctantly applied League Rule 4.6 against Leyton FC as a result of the club not paying the second instalment of its annual subscription, despite a Board instruction under Rule 4.6.

More to follow.
