THERE were plenty of strong performances from Orion Harriers' runners as the club played host to the fifth and final leg of the cross-country Essex League.

In the under-13 girls' race Katie Inch edged out team-mate Serena Espeute in to ninth, with Talya Abbott in 17th. The team finished third overall.

In the boys' race Daniel Richards was the pick of the performers in seventh as the team ran to second overall. Ben Patterson came home in 11th, with George Day (16th) and Charlie Wedston (18th).

In the U15s' Georgia Tuckfield ran excellently for fourth place and second for the season, with Sydney Taylor ten places behind her and Georgia Maltese in 20th.

The boys' trio of George Hoy (7th), Cheyen Antoine-Chagar (8th) and Matthew Boyce (16th) all enjoyed highly-impressive runs.

Orion's U17 runner Alex Gordon was 12th, while Ben Silverstone crossed the line two places back. Melissa Timpson was 16th for the girls.
