Orient return to league action tomorrow as they bid to build upon last weekend’s result at Chesterfield.

The goalless draw at the b2net Stadium saw the O’s return south with their first point of the season, something they will no doubt look to use as a springboard in preparation for a trip to Colchester United.

To have recorded their first point of the season will no doubt be a massive boost to the squad, but the O’s will need to be at their best to take maximum points from the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester have suffered a mix start to the League One campaign since they shocked the division with an opening day demolition of Preston North End.

John Ward’s side ran out 4-2 winners at Deepdale but have only picked up one further win in the league since then, thrashing their visitors Oldham Athletic 4-1 a fortnight ago.

The O’s will be wary of the home side’s goal threat as the U’s have shown they know how to hit the back of the net so far this season.

Ian Henderson leads the scoring charts for the club with four goals in all competitions, while Kayode Odejayi and Anthony Wordsworth have both bagged three goals so far.

Historically speaking, Colchester has not proved to be a happy hunting ground for the O’s.

Orient claimed a 2-1 success there in the Carling Cup first round two seasons ago, following on from an FA Cup first round victory the previous season.

However, the O’s last claimed league success from a trip to Colchester way back in September 1951 in their English Division Three South clash.

With the O’s in need of goals to get their season up and running, Russell Slade knows he has two strikers who will be well clued up on Saturday's hosts.

Much-travelled forward Jamie Cureton has enjoyed two spells with the Essex side during his career.

The former Queens Park Rangers front man joined the U’s on loan from Swindon Town in October 2005 before making a permanent switch the following summer.

His time at the club saw him bag 31 goals before a move to Norwich City after just one season.

Fellow summer signing David Mooney has also enjoyed a spell with Ward’s side.

The Dubliner spent last season in Essex on loan from Reading, scoring 14 goals during his time with the club, helping to persuade his new manager to make the move for him.

Having spent time with the club earlier this year, Mooney is well placed to comment on the dangers Saturday’s opponents pose.

“I think they are very good on set plays. The gaffer works them hard on that,” said Mooney.

“I think the main dangers will come from their front four (Henderson, Odejayi, Wordsworth and Michail Antonio).”

He added: “That is a decent quartet in anyone’s books but hopefully we can do enough at the back.”
