Buckhurst Hill are celebrating a third promotion in four years after a comfortable seven-wicket victory against Hadleigh and Thundersley in Essex Division One.

Hadleigh batted first but did not make the best of starts and found themselves on 53 for three.

Joe Robbins (75), in at number four, hit the highest score of the day but was not backed up at the other end and the visitors continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and eventually were all out for 175.

Carlos Remy was the pick of the Hill bowlers, taking four for 29.

With the bat, Buckhurst made fairly easy work of the run chase and Ian Russell (47) and Raymond Parkinson (43) were the main contributors as they reached their target for the loss of three wickets.

Chingford concluded their season with an 11-run win at relegated Gidea Park & Romford.

The damage was done by the visitors’ top order as they recovered from the early loss of Paul Shawyer (3) to post 199 all out.

Half-centuries from Shahbaz Butt (64) and Alfie Taylor (50) proved to be the high point of the Chingford innings before they made light work of the majority of the home side’s batting attack.

Many of Gidea’s batsmen were dismissed for single-figure scores but opener Jamal Francis (105) ensured they didn’t go down without a fight as they were skittled for 188.

Butt was the leading wicket-taker for Chingford, finishing with three for 27.

Fives & Heronians suffered a disappointing 43-run defeat at relegated Harold Wood.

Wood elected to bat and although none of their order reached the half-century mark, they can be thankful for a collection of double-figure scores early on.

Ryan Cunningham returned with the best figures for Fives, claiming three for 14, while Muhammed Zafar also picked up three wickets at the expense of 38.

In reply, the visitors never really looked like they would threaten the Wood target as some poor scoring left them reeling on 87 for nine.

However, a gritty display from Ben Britton (37) and tail-ender Ryan Cunningham (32) hauled them up to a more respectable tally of 144 before the latter was dismissed to conclude the match.
