A new programme has been launched with the aim of providing hockey training for disabled youngsters.
Waltham Forest Hockey Club have teamed up with Access Sport as part of the Olympic legacy to set up Free Pan-Disability coaching for 8-18-year-olds.
The training - named Forest Flyerz - will kick-off on Tuesday, November 1 and run every week from 7-8 pm in the main sports hall at Walthamstow Academy.
It follows a successful pilot at Wheel Power's 'Time to Shine' event in August which was organised by club Disability Section Coordinator, Pani Theodorou.
"Seeing the kids at the ‘Time to Shine’ event really brought home why we’re doing this – to put a smile on the kids’ faces, and give them the opportunity to join in, when there is so little available to them," she said.
"My aim is that the sessions are open to anyone and everyone.
"We will be adaptable and do what we can to make these sessions accessible to all."
For further information, or if you’d like to volunteer at the sessions, please contact Pani at flyerz@walthamforesthc.co.uk or 07985 109002 or visit http://www.walthamforesthc.co.uk/flyerz/index.htm.
