Prediction: Orient v Colchester

5:10pm Friday 27th January 2012

By Matt Bass

Following the victory at Preston, Russell Slade himself admitted that if someone had suggested at the beginning of October that his Leyton Orient side would be mid-table at this stage of the season, he would have called them “nuts”.

Bet yet the turnaround has continued - following a brief blip against Carlisle and Chesterfield.

The O’s now find themselves enjoying the dizzy heights of the top half of League One, and while Slade has urged caution over talk of a playoff push, there are still plenty of points to play for.

Tomorrow sees the visit of Colchester United and I, for one, am feeling pretty confident.

September’s trip to the Weston Homes Community Stadium saw the O’s return home with just a point to show for an almighty effort. In truth, it was a game where an away win would not have been an unfair conclusion.

Orient have vastly improved since that match, while the U’s have hardly set the world alight with recent form.

With Stephen Dawson looking likely to be the only absentee, it should be a strong O’s side that takes to the pitch tomorrow, and I fully expect them to make it back-to-back wins.
