Over 100 keen runners took part in the second cross country race for local primary schools, hosted by Coopersale Hall School, Epping.

The undulating and challenging course, which took in part of Epping Golf Course and both started and finished on a hill, produced some strong performances at the annual event which is open to all local county primary schools.

Winning teams included Coopersale Hall, Ivy Chimneys, St Andrews, Epping Primary and High Ongar, who gained places in all four categories.

Ivy Chimneys also found themselves on the podium in all four sections.

The competition was organised by Adrian Robinson, Head of Sport at Coopersale Hall.

He said: “The turnout was fantastic from schools, pupils and parents - we were very lucky with the weather again and it’s great to see so many children really trying their hardest for their team.”

Medals were handed out by Kaye Lovejoy, Headmistress of Coopersale Hall, who stated during her presentation speech: “It’s so good to see the competitive spirit is alive and well and keenly supported by parents.”
