It was a strong performance from East London Runners at the Rooprai Spinal Trust 10km as the club’s competitors claimed the top three positions.

Thomas Grimes came home in top spot, clocking a time of 36.18 in the process. In second was Patrick Brown (37.35) while third place was secured by Dan Spinks (41.21).

Kelly Leedham was the first lady across the line with a time of 53.00. Also in action at the event was Julie Creffield who finished in 1.06.00.

Meanwhile, Steven Bywater tackled the Worcester Half Marathon and set a new personal best time of 1.49.02.

Elsewhere, three runners travelled to the south coast to take on the Brighton half marathon.

The top finisher was Andrew Baxter who crossed the line in 228th with a time of 3.14.59. Next home for East London was Peter Hatley in 3.26.58. Ryan Levart (4.18.51) also completed the race. There was a good showing at the Wanstead Flats as Aaron Williams set a course best time of 18.24 to finish in first place.

Not far behind was Daniel Gallacher (19.34) in fourth and Spinks (19.45) in fifth. Emmet Fitzgibbon (21.55) was 16th while Richard Potter (22.01) was 18th.

Emily Hart (24.15) came home in 29th place while Sarah Burns (24.51) crossed the line in 37th. Jayne Browne (27.11) claimed 45th with Emiko Priest setting a course personal best to secure 48th place.

Elsewhere, Allan Todd was in action at the Fullers Thames Towpath 10 mile and ran solidly to finish 55th in a time of 69.25.

At the Newham Classic 9.6km Mark Boulton clocked a personal best of 35.16 to put him in 21st position.

Mark Wyatt also claimed a PB to finished 37th and Mohammed Aklaqul-Ambea (40.41) secured 152nd.

Caroline Meaby set a personal best 45.29 to come home in 199th while Paul Charters finished 265th in 47.02.

David Wyatt (49.52) finished 357th and Thomas Whitney (51.31) crossed the line in 450th.
