Wanstead and Snaresbrook suffered an eight-run defeat to Colchester and East Essex at Castle Park in the Essex Premier Division.

After winning the toss, Wanstead decided to bowl first and they managed to dismiss their opponents for 193. Mohammed Fayyaz Khan impressed with Wanstead picking up six for 45. Joe Ellis-Grewal came away with two for 63 and Rehan Hassan took one for 37.

It looked like a beatable total but Wanstead failed to get off to the ideal start and they fell short being bowled out for 185 in 49.3 overs. Petrus Hattingh was their top scorer with 39 while Hassan struck 34 and Shahid Saeed scored an unbeaten 35.

South Woodford battled to claim a draw with Brentwood.

The hosts lost the toss and found life tough in the field as Brentwood amassed a total of 279 for six. Harry Shirt fared best with the ball as he picked up three for 81. Garry Neicho took two for 58 and Bradley Copper's efforts were rewarded with a wicket.

South Woodford were second best for much of the contest and came away relieved to avoid defeat as they ended up on 221 for nine. Opener Nick Browne looked in decent nick as he hit 58 and he was assisted by a score of 40 from Joe Craddock. But the rest of the side struggled with only Shirt's 31 making any real impression.

Woodford Wells suffered a 22-run defeat to Chelmsford at Monkhams Lane.

Chelmsford opted to bat first and they ran up an impressive innings of 260 for five. Donovan Miller took two for 26 and Tom Clark claimed two for 41.

In reply, Woodford Wells were always up against it and fell short as they were dismissed for 238.

Arun Chinnaraj struck 51 but the best performer for Woodford was Rory Ellison who managed an unbeaten 75. Clark added 30 down the order but the side could not hold out as Chelmsford clinched the points.

In Division One, Loughton defeated Orsett by 11 runs.

The hosts were put into bat in their low-scoring match and could only get a total of 135 all out in 36.3 overs. Hafiz Yawar Afzal hit 27 and Mohammed Hafeez scored 26 but there was little else to shout about.

Loughton managed to come up trumps with their bowlers as they dismissed Orsett for 124 in 30.3 overs to claim a thrilling victory.

Salim Akbar was the star of the side as he claimed seven wickets for 47. Bilal Butt took the other three as Loughton came away with the points.

Fives and Heronians had to settle for a draw with Hadleigh & Thundersley.

After being put into bat, Fives mustered a total of 217 for seven. Christopher White top scored with 66 but the lower order made a valuable contribution. Stuart Kanpman was unbeaten on 44 and Bilal Ashfaq hit 29 to give Fives a solid foundation.

Hadleigh never threatened to reach the target and were pleased to earn a draw finishing up on 186 for nine. Ryan Cunningham was the pick of the bowlers taking five for 36 and Jonathan Kay also chipped in with two for 35.

Chingford earned a 79-run win over Harlow.

An unbeaten 86 from Matthew O'Sullivan led the way for them before a brilliant 97 from Sam Kirnon helped them to 241 for five.

Harlow did not have the firepower to trouble them and were bowled out for 162. Chingford's Ben MacGregor took five for 57 and Shaun McMurray picked up two for 34.

West Essex beat Old Brentwoods by six wickets in Division Three.

A superb seven-wicket haul from Abdul Gafangaf (seven for 49) helped dismiss the opposition for 109 in 25.1 overs.

West Essex eased to the target for the loss of four wickets in 29.1 overs with opener Irfan Riaz top scoring on 36.

Woodford Green lost to Hutton by 19 runs.

Hutton managed to score 151 all out after being put into bat. Ali Raza impressed with six for 50 and Aamir Latif took two for 53.

Woodford Green had high hopes of victory but these evaporated after being dismissed for a lowly 132. Aamir Latif hit 35 but the rest of his team-mates failed to make an impact.

Epping scraped to a five-run victory over Pegasus & Corringham.

After batting first, Epping scored 147 all out. Marc Meyer-Webb hit 42 and Matthew Barrett struck 35 for the visitors.

In reply, Pegasus fell just short as they crumbled to 142 all out in 41.4 overs. Baqar Ali was crucial to the victory as he took five for 43 for Epping.

Old Parkonians were thrashed by 146 runs in their game against Benfleet.

The visitors scored 201 for eight from their innings with Ejaz Khan returning figures of four for 67.

But Old Parkonians were terrible with the bat as they were skittled out for a mere 55 in 23 overs. Khan top scored on 13 in a forgettable afternoon for Old Parkonians.
