Waltham Forest Amateur Boxing Club’s Deayandra Allen finished the season with a bang after being crowned Haringey Police and Community Box Cup champion in the female class A Under-68kg division.

The Forest puncher, who was disappointed to lose out on her debut fight in April, showed few signs of nerves in her semi-final bout with Christine Wittle from the Times club on Saturday.

In a close contest, Allen secured a narrow 3-2 win in the scoring to move into the final on Sunday where she faced the more experienced Lynn Calder.

The Scottish fighter from Peterhead ABC came into the final on the back of an impressive four straight wins.

But a pumped up Allen certainly did her coaches proud as she didn’t show a seconds hesitation on stamping her authority on the contests.

Boxing well off her jab, the Forest puncher landed some telling blows that not only brought a standing count in the third session, but enabled her to secure a comfortable 5-0 victory.

Secretary Ian Cuddy said: "We all thought Deayandra was very unlucky to lose her first fight with us, but we always knew there was a real talent in there.

"She is probably one of our hardest trainers in the gym and I’m glad her efforts have been rewarded with this title, because it is a great way to end the season."
