East London Runners’ Dan Spinks was part of an eight man team that tackled the Adidas Thunder Run – a cross country relay event last 24 hours.

With each member of side tackling four ten kilometre races though the day, a support crew including a cook, physio and doctor was on hand for the team.

Spinks completed his first stage in 47.55, returning home at 3pm. After a brief break he was back on the course and managed to post a time of 47.26.

This third lap of the circuit began at 2.50am and despite the challenging conditions, he managed to stop the clock on 51.13.

Despite the inevitable fatigue, Spinks still managed to claim a time of 50.13 in his 10k of the relay.

His impressive times saw the side collect seventh position out of around 200 teams in their category. Elsewhere, the club was once against represented at the Valentines Park park run on Saturday and Manjit Singh led the Runners home.

He crossed the line in 11th place in a time of 21.37 while Derek Wright was not far behind to take 15th spot in a time of 22.15.

Thomas Grimes travelled to Ireland for the Paddy Ryan Memorial 10k event and returned with a runners-up spot.

He stopped the clock on 35.40 and that was enough for second place out of 140 finishers.

At the Wanstead Flats park run, only two runners were in action and Katherine Harris was the highest placed finisher as she was 13th with 24.26.

Next over the line for East London was Fiona Day whose time of 28.54 was enough to take 17th position.
