Andre Villas-Boas is mulling over a January swoop for Chelsea winger Daniel Sturridge, as the Spurs boss continues his search for extra options out wide.

Sturridge was one of the few success stories of Villas-Boas' brief tenure at Stamford Bridge as the England winger scored ten goals in 17 games at the start of last season.

Since Villas-Boas was sacked however, the 23-year-old has found his opportunities limited and this term Sturridge has yet to start a league match for Chelsea.

With the player keen to find a new club in January, Villas-Boas is considering making a move.

Spurs are known to be on the lookout for a new wideman to provide competition for Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale, and in recent weeks have been linked with Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and PSV's Dries Mertens.

Any deal for Sturridge would however likely hinge on Chelsea's asking price, which is thought to be around £15m.

Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is unlikely to feel charitable as relations between the two clubs remain strained after Chelsea's relentless pursuit of Luka Modric two summers ago.
