WALES striker Craig Bellamy believes Aaron Ramsey's arrival on the international scene has sparked a wave of expectation not seen since the emergence of a certain Ryan Giggs.
Arsenal's 17-year-old midfield prodigy will make his debut for his country in tonight's friendly with Denmark, and Hammers forward Bellamy insists everyone is 'very excited' about the talented youngster and the effect he could have on Welsh football.
“I cannot recall as much fuss about a young Wales player since Ryan Giggs,” Bellamy said. “I don't want to put too much pressure on him, but everyone is very excited about him and that includes me.”
Ramsey, who has already made a handful of first-team appearances for the Gunners since his £5million move from Cardiff City, has quickly caught the eye of Wales boss John Toshack.
The former Real Madrid manager, while keen not to put too much pressure on young shoulders, is also clearly excited about the central midfielder, as well as West Ham youngster Jack Collison, who is also in line to start against the Danes.
“They have brought a level of enthusiasm with them,” Toshack said. “When I watch them in training there is a real zip about them. What they lack in experience they make up with enthusiasm.”
