Lehmann reveals being a Gunners reserve 'sucks'

VETERAN Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann has once again aired his frustration at the lack of first team football at the Emirates Stadium this season.
The 39-year-old gloveman, wasn't even in the squad for Monday night's game at Derby as young Pole Lukasz Fabianski was given a run-out and main rival Manuel Almunia returned to make the bench.
And former Borussia Dortmund stopper Lehmann, who has already bad-mouthed replacement Almunia several times this season, claims it is only his advancing years that is keeping him sane.
He said: "It sucks being a reserve, but with growing age it is bearable."

Lehmann has no one but himself to blame for his demotion. I started supporting Arsenal because of a goalkeeper (Pat Jennings), but Lehmann's childish demeanour has hurt the team this season. The sooner he is gone the better. Goalkeeper is not a confident posiiton for us at the moment.

Lehmann has not hurt the team, the teams lack of mental strength and the lack of squad depth has hurt the team.
When he came in in February he was excellent and it was one of Wenger biggest mistakes to take him out again. Wenger has also made some very disrespectful comments on the while matter so I do understand Lehmann voicing his anger, especially since he had to watch Almunia doing what he does best in the past few months: being average and never saving the difficult shot.
Lehmann could have made the difference but I think Wenger was to proud to play him again. Pity, because the last clean sheet at home we had kept in February was with Lehmann in goal, the first one in two months was with Lehmann in goal again and against Manchester Udt. he had shown what makes the difference between an average goalkeeper like Almunia and a class goalkeeper like Lehmann.
I really don't feel like congratulating Wenger on his questionable decision to talk pride over sensebility and leave Lehmann on the bench all season.
